President's Message

Happy Spring to everyone!

My name is Josh Neal, and I’m extremely excited to be serving as President of KALA.  My commitment to our members is to be the voice of all and to lead this organization, as well as Kentucky to one of the premier states in the country for Cervid breeders, buyers, and sellers. My personal #1 goal, as well as a long term goal of the organization is to promote growth within our state. Over the last 5 years we’ve seen tremendous growth, but I believe we have only just begun! As President I have two primary objectives. Number 1, always remain knowledgeable on the ever-changing regulations and ensure they meet the needs of our members as well as our livestock that we devote our lives to. Number 2, is to always promote our Organization and state with the utmost respect and professionalism. I am always reachable by phone, text, or email, and will take any questions, comments, or concerns that come my way. Transparency as your serving President is important to me, and something I will take very seriously with and for our members.

My wife (Jessica) and I began our journey with Whitetails in 2015, and after tons of research and farm visits we purchased our 1st deer from within the state of Kentucky. Fast forward to 2021, we now have a breeding program that consists of Whitetails, Fallow Deer, Elk, and so much more. We jumped head first into this adventure and in 2017 we formed our 1st business, now known as “Urine Luck Deer Scents, LLC”. Currently we collect and distribute roughly 40 gallons of deer Urine each hunting season. 2019 brought our biggest addition to our farm by the way of Sila Grace Neal. Our beautiful/outgoing/animal loving daughter, and anyone who knows Jessica or myself can surely say that Sila is the light of our life! 2020 bought some very challenging times for most, but as for us we pushed forward and opened our 2nd business known as “Hidden Hills Whitetails & Game hunts”, a joint venture with our partners/parents Boyd and Kellie Neal.

Jessica and I like to say we cover all aspects of the industry, and I can truly say that it helps us understand the industry much better. We continue to learn everyday as most breeders do. Through these ventures over the last several years we have been fortunate to make many new friends and relationships that will last a lifetime. It’s crazy to think that without our deer we would have never met these amazing people that we now consider our closest friends and family!
